How much battery life is good on iPhone

Battery-wise, the two iPhones under review do not outperform their predecessors. Instead, we see a reduction in capacity and use the time before owners start considering a recharge. Nevertheless, this slight drop in batter capacity does not impede the effectiveness of these mobile machines.

There is no significant difference in the battery life of both phones, although the sizes are different. The enormous size of the iPhone 14 Pro Max already took all its battery gains over the iPhone 14 Pro. Therefore, your budget will likely be the primary deciding factor in which of the two to purchase.

How to Check Your Battery Health

The next step in your “Battery Life” journey is checking the actual health of your phone’s battery. Doing this will indicate if there is a hardware issue (which your battery needs replaced) or something else.

Keep in mind that your Battery’s health is different from its percent charged. Basically, your battery should be at 100% health (or very close to that) to perform its best. As seen in the screenshot above, the battery health of this iPhone X is 81% while the phone is charged to 100%. The phone is still operational, but, it will never be a true 100% charge until the battery is capable of supporting that amount.

How to Check Your iPhone Battery Health

To check your iPhone’s battery health, go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health. Towards the top of the screen, you’ll notice the Maximum Capacity section. This tells you your battery’s charging capability in relation to when your iPhone was brand new. The higher the number, the longer you can go between charges.

Below that, you’ll see a message regarding your battery’s Peak Performance Capability. The message you see is dependent on the maximum capacity percentage you see above.

What other phones have better battery life than iPhone?

Which? didn’t stop its testing after finishing the iPhone lineup. In order to paint a clearer picture of good battery life for consumers, the company took the time to review phones from Nokia, Samsung, and Sony. To its surprise, not only did these phones meet estimated times, but several actually surpassed manufacturer’s estimates.

Sony, in particular, is seen as the clear winner in this contest. Two of its phones averaged higher battery life than estimated, with one model, the Xperia Z5 Compact, lasting almost 26 hours on a full charge. That’s almost 9 hours above Sony’s own numbers, making this phone the device equivalent of a “humblebrag.”

You Can’t Stop the Process

As your iPhone’s battery chemically ages, this translates into fewer hours of usage between charges. This means you’ll need to charge your battery more frequently. Unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do to stop this process. It’s just the way lithium-ion batteries work.

While you can’t stop the process, you can delay it by taking good care of your device. Here’s how you can maximize your iPhone’s battery life and lifespan.
