When will the iPhone 7 stop working?

In some cases, Apple still supports its products until five years after they are discontinued, except for a few. As of September of 2022, the iPhone 7 will no longer be supported.

2016 marked the launch of the iPhone 7 and it was an upgrade to the iPhone 6 and 6s. It is possible that Apple will end support for the iPhone 7 in 2021, but if their support for the iPhone 7 continues, it will last for five years. From 2022 onward, iPhone 7 users will be able to do so on their own.

How long will the iPhone 7 be supported?

The iPhone 7 will be officially supported till September 12, 2022, which is when iOS 16 gets released. After the iOS 16 release takes place, Apple may stop signing iOS 15.6.1 within a month of the release. Unless the company sends additional security updates for iPhone 7, iOS 15.6.1 could be the end of support for this model.

The iPhone 7 lineup joins the iPhone 5s to be the most supported iPhone to date as the latter received 6 feature updates during its lifetime; from iOS 7 to iOS 12. The iPhone 7 was released with iOS 10.0.1 out of the box and it currently runs iOS 15.6.1, which means it too has received six major updates to date.

iPhone 7 Problems

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus users who have made the move to iOS 15 are complaining about a variety of bugs and performance issues.

We’re hearing about severe battery drain, issues connecting to Wi-Fi, problems connecting to Bluetooth (a big problem given that the two phones don’t have a 3.5mm headphone jack), touchscreen issues, problems with various first and third-party applications, problems with Widgets, issues syncing photos, and much more.

iPhone 7 and 7 Plus iOS 16 Update Status

  • The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus were launched in 2016 with iOS 10 and are currently running the latest iOS 15. Both the phones are powered by the A10 Fusion chipset. But will they get iOS 16? The answer is No; both the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus will not get the iOS 16 update.

Update: SHOCKING news for iPhone 7 lineup users. iOS 16 drops support for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

What iPhones will stop working in 2022?

AT&T Is Shutting Down 3G | iPhone 5s Owners and More Will Lose Service. AT&T recently announced that it’s going to shut down its 3G service on February 22, 2022. This means that some older devices will no longer work after that date, including the iPhone 5s and earlier models.

Also, some functions of iOS 15 won’t work on the iPhone 7, as they require at least an A12-powered iPhone. iOS 16 is expected to come out later this year, and we figure that Apple will still support the iPhone SE 2020. (The original iPhone SE won’t be so lucky, we hear.)
